Wine Production
The ABS reported that winemakers produced a record 1,174.1 ML of beverage wine, a gain of 13.5% from the previous year (see below). All States recorded an increase in wine production in 2001-02, except Tasmania. New South Wales/ACT showed the greatest growth with a 26.7% increase in wine production from 2000-01. South Australia produced 47.8% of the wine, down from 50.6% in 2000-01. The production of fortified wine increased by 25.9% reversing a long-term trend toward diminishing production.
