Gro-guard pioneered the use of vineguards in 1989. Publication of trial results in 1990 produced an immediate and enthusiastic response from the industry.

Following this initial success, the company has continued to develop its product in close connection with the grape growing industry. This process has seen Gro-guard become the most convenient and reliable product of its type on the market.

Gro-guard vineguards - which are fully rigid and replace training stakes - are available in zip-opening or welded-shut versions, both of which are completely sealed against herbicide entry.

Heavy-duty attachment to the trellis wire makes the Gro-guard very wind-firm, easily surviving 60-plus mph winds, such as those experienced on Long Island, New York, in Fall 1996.

The patented V-cutout makes training to the wire easy and the Gro-guard folds flat for easy shipping and end of season storage and re-use.

The company regards customer contact and service as paramount to its operations and customers benefit from the company's long and varied experience in five countries with climates ranging from cold (Ontario, New York, Oregon and Colorado) to hot (wet tropics of Australia and central Australian arid zone).
